Jonas Stahl

Jonas Stahl was born in 1984 in the Ruhr Valley, in a region that has not let go of him to this day. Its directness, its working-class milieus, and its particular way of not expressing feelings but carrying them, can be found in every one of his texts.

After many years in professional life, he began to write. Not because he always wanted to be an author, but because the stories eventually became larger than the space he had given them.

His novels tell of men who have learned to need little and show little. Of closeness that does not announce itself. Of identity that cannot be explained. Of the small objects and gestures that carry the weight that words do not want to carry.

With the series Geschichten aus dem Gym, Jonas Stahl has created a world that is anchored in a gym in Gelsenkirchen-Ückendorf and tells from there what happens when people stop protecting themselves.

His books are explicit, honest, and without clichés. They are for adults who know that one does not exclude the other.

Jonas Stahl lives and works in Northern Germany.
